About us: our story so far

Be part of our success story
RePaint Scotland is a social enterprise and charity established in 2008. We were the first organisation in the UK to prepare water based paint for reuse, and are still the only organisation in the UK working at the volumes we process.

RePaint Scotland was established to provide a completely new, innovative and strategic approach to preparing water based paint for reuse. Core activities are to collect water based (non-hazardous) paint from local authority Civic Amenity Sites/Recycling Centres, paint manufacturers and retailers then blend, filter, test and package the 'paint made from paint' and redistribute it through sales and donations.

We are committed to helping local communities and individuals and donate 10% of our recycled paint products each year to community organisations that support and enable disadvantaged and/or disaffected individuals and families.

Benefits
• Last year 366 million litres of paint (retail and trade) were sold in the UK. Of this, it is estimated that
approximately 55 million litres are unused, stored in homes or garages or just thrown away.
That's enough paint to fill 22 Olympic-sized swimming pools and almost 77,000 tonnes of waste
that will probably end up in landfill sites!

• We see 'waste paint' as a valuable resource (as long as it's reusable) so do your bit for the environment and your local community by donating your paint to us!

• We are committed to helping local communities and individuals and donate 20% of our recycled paint products each year to organisations that need paint to support and enable disadvantaged and/or disaffected individuals and families.

• RePaint Scotland is a member of the 'Community RePaint' national network www.communityrepaint.org.uk which, in 2010:

  • saved 316,641 litres of paint, donated by householders and businesses, going to waste, with a market value of over £1.25 million
  • redistributed over 215,000 litres of paint to community groups, charities, voluntary organisations and people in social need

RePaint Scotland is now an accredited supplier for all 32 local authorities in Scotland and associate partners.
